Description: During the last years, besides fish, the cephalopod molluscs abundant particularly in the waters of the West-Indies, are acquiring an ever-increasing importance in the World Ocean. During the expedition e/v «Academic Kowalevskii» a heavy accumulation of D. plei was noted at the end of June in the region of the Great Bagama sandbank in its south western extremity in the Santoren Strait under depths not exceeding 30 m. The size of obtained individuals varied from 50 to 120 mm. The oceanographic characteristic of this region allows to assume that D. plei accumulation lasts there the whole year round.
